Description
The central dining hall, Bartol Hall, was completed in 1953. Named after the Corporation member John Washburn Bartol (1906-1952), it opened to students on their return from the holiday break.
A special dinner in January commemorated the opening of the modern dining hall, which featured tours through the kitchen. The back of Bartol Hall was also connected to Alumnae Hall and could serve 500 students at a time.
Located on the Residence Campus, Bartol Hall will be removed during Skanska USA Commercial Development's 'Longwood Place' project as part of a 99-year ground lease agreement with Simmons.
