Class of 1907: Punch the dog 

Punch the dog was the first class mascot at Simmons. Although the Class of 1906 was the first to graduate, this group did not choose a mascot. 

Punch could be found throughout campus and at a number of college events. As the Simmons Senior Book recounted in 1907: 

Punch, our mascot, came to economics wearing a large green and white bow, and, in spite of the many attentions he received, he was very well behaved.

Despite the Class' adoration of Punch, the practice of choosing a mascot was abandoned until the Class of 1916 chose to reinstate the tradition.
