1999 celebration of May Day at Simmons College

May Day is the oldest continuous tradition at Simmons College. While the day has evolved in reaction to the environment of the times, this day of song, dance, and strawberry shortcake has won a place in the hearts of students and the Simmons Community.

"May 1st, just might have more holidays associated with it than any other day of the year. It's a celebration of spring. It's a day of political protests. It's a neopagan festival, a saint's feast day, and a day for organized labor. In many countries, it is a national holiday- and it is a 100 year old Simmons tradition." - Professor Gary Bailey, May Day 2012.
